China’s non-woven fabric production increased by 6.2% in Jan-Feb this year

The industry’s economy started well, with both volume and efficiency increasing.

Production, according to the National Bureau of Statistics data, January-February nonwovens production(like spunbond, meltblown, etc  of enterprises above designated size increased by 6.2% year-on-year, the market dynamics gradually recovered, the production and supply of synchronized rebound to the good; with the new automobile production as well as the increase in automobile ownership, the production of cord fabrics increased by 17.1% year-on-year.

Economic efficiency, according to the National Bureau of Statistics data, January-February industrial textiles industry operating income and total profits of enterprises above designated size increased by 5.7% and 11.5% year-on-year, the industry’s profitability has returned to the upward channel, the operating profit margin of 3.4%, an increase of 0.2 percentage points.

Sub-fields, January-February nonwovens(like spunbond, meltblown, etc enterprises above designated size of operating income and total profits fell by 1.9% and 14% year-on-year, the operating profit margin of 2.3%, a year-on-year decline of 0.3 percentage points.

Filtration,geotextiles where the other industrial textiles above-scale enterprises’ operating income and total profit increased by 12.9% and 25.1% year-on-year, and 5.6% of the operating profit margin for the industry’s highest level.

In terms of international trade, according to China Customs data (Customs 8-digit HS code statistics), the export value of China’s industrial textiles industry in January-February 2024 amounted to 6.49 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 12.8%; the industry’s imports in January-February amounted to 700 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 10.1%.

Sub-products, industrial coated fabrics, felt/tent is currently the industry’s top two export products, exports were $ 800 million and $ 720 million, respectively, an increase of 21.5% and 7% year-on-year; the global market demand for China’s nonwovens, the export volume of 219,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 25%, the export value of 610 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%.

Overseas markets for disposable hygiene products ( like medical industry protection remained active, with exports amounting to US$540 million, a year-on-year increase of 14.9%, of which the increase in the export value of adult diapers was particularly marked, up 33% year-on-year.

Among the traditional products, the export value of canvas and leather-based fabrics increased by more than 20% year-on-year, and the export value of cord (cable) belt textiles, industrial glass fiber products, and packaging textiles also increased to different degrees year-on-year.

Overseas demand for wipes maintained growth, with exports of wipes (excluding wet wipes) amounting to $250 million, up 34.2% year-on-year, and exports of wet wipes amounting to $150 million, up 55.2% year-on-year.
